Where did I get my hair done – well that is a bit of a story and a blog post for another day.
I got into Glasgow, an amazing city, friendly people, always up for a good laugh, and some amazing cocktails as well lol. University was amazing, made the best of friends anyone could ask for while you are in Uni and in a city, you know absolutely nothing about it. The biggest struggle for any black person is “where on God’s blessed earth can I get my hair done in this city?” I did my research and found out that there are websites available to help locate saloons in Scotland, but guess what.... for Caucasians, fine no bother… I can buy some wigs or hair extensions and that would be it. Did some digging found out there are only 51 registered salons that specialise in Afro -Caribbean hair in Scotland and this was pre-COVID, everyone wants to make that side cash... so home service fair enough!
I love that stores like Superdrug and Boots sell Afro-Caribbean hair products, but you know it’s the famous ones and we know to get them because, well... we see influencers use their products its called MARKETING BABY! Most of these products are all trial and error, spending money trying to find that right product that would work for your hair. God knows how much money I have spent on finding a product that would not leave my hair itchy in a few days or dry out my scalp that I moisturised a few days go.
So, to answer the question WHY AFROBLOSSOM?
I decided that I would like to build a one-stop platform where it’s all about your curls and your convenience for my fellow queens with textured hair or anyone that is up for changing up their look, there is nothing wrong in wearing different wigs based on how you are feeling on that day. Also, we can’t think of a better way to shop!! AfroBlossom is about buying quality hair and providing the best services. We intend to provide the utmost services and product for your hard-earned cash (in that Nigerian accent).
On this platform you will be able to shop for:
- Ready-made wigs
- Clip-in Extensions (the famous AfroBlossom textured clip-ins)
- Bookings for Home service starting in Scotland (different hairdressers within your location will be listed, easy for you to find and hassle-free) - soon to come on the platform and within the U.K.
- Extensions and passion twists
- Blog section (you get to read articles written by customers like you. We are trying to build an interactive & supportive platform, we are all on a journey together)
- At some point in the future, we will be developing our own hair products; shampoo, conditioner, hair masks, and let’s not forget essential oils!, for anyone who loves that moisturised scalp and hair.
We understand the value of money and AfroBlossom will be that platform that factors convenience, cost, and quality for its customers.

I totally understand the struggle finding a hairstylist in Scotland. Right now I have a church Aunty that does my hair here but she doesn’t know how to handle my curls, sometimes we argue and quarrel. Since I don’t have a choice I have to stick with her until I find someone else who can care for my hair.
